Mikey earned a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography on HBO’s 100 Foot Wave, capturing unfolding events vérité-style with instinct and precision, creating intimate portraits of authentic human moments. His directorial debut, Savage Waters, premiered as the opening night film of the prestigious DocLands film festival in California, and went on to win multiple international awards, rank among the UK’s top ten highest-grossing documentaries in the year of release, and secured distribution on Apple TV and Amazon Prime.

Leveraging years of producing award-winning short form films for Red Bull in the extreme sports arena, he directed a full length feature doc called Making Waves for the highly acclaimed Box to Box Films, featuring 11 times world surfing champion Kelly Slater and his highly ambitious pioneering man-made wave project in Abu Dhabi, all while navigating complex technical and interpersonal challenges through the intensity of a scorching Abu Dhabi summer.

Mikey’s work spans commercial and branded content as can be seen through his recent work on Amazon’s Rising Stars campaign. The campaign successfully blends documentary authenticity with very specific commercial objectives and was recommissioned for a second season with Mikey returning in a creative lead role.

His impact-driven work extends into the charity sector through his collaboration with the Pickwell Foundation and their refugee support project, and his recent film Into the Light – A Story of Surfers, Not Street Children will screen at festivals worldwide and be a key asset that raises awareness and supports effective fundraising initiatives for the charity.
