Mikey is an Emmy-winning nonfiction filmmaker working across premium streaming, independent cinema and high-end digital content. His work spans Netflix, HBO, Amazon and Apple, as well as YouTube and social platforms.

He works across the entire production pipeline, from initial development through to final delivery, with the versatility to operate as a cinematographer, shooting producer/director or creative director.

Obsessed with story and intention above all else, Mikey’s skillset spans intimate vérité filmmaking, crafting engaging interviews with complex or natural lighting setups, operating cutting-edge stabilised camera systems such as the Ronin 4D, and specialised in-water camera work. He is experienced working with high-profile contributors in challenging, fast-paced environments, responding instinctively as stories unfold.

His feature documentary directorial debut, Savage Waters, premiered as the opening-night film at the prestigious DocLands Film Festival in California. The film went on to win multiple international awards, rank among the UK’s ten highest-grossing documentaries of its release year, and secure distribution on Apple TV and Amazon Prime. He subsequently directed Making Waves, a feature documentary for acclaimed production company Box to Box Films.

As a cinematographer, Mikey has worked alongside acclaimed director Chris Smith (Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, Fyre, WHAM!, Sr., Mr. McMahon) on HBO’s multi-award-winning 100 Foot Wave. His intimate vérité cinematography earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program. He has also worked as an additional cinematographer for director Rebecca Chaiklin (Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness) on Netflix’s Rebel Royals: An Unlikely Love Story.

Alongside his documentary work, Mikey works across commercial and branded filmmaking. Recent projects include Visual Director and Stills Photographer for Amazon’s Rising Stars digital-first series, and Creative Director for a digital campaign for global financial organisation CFA Institute.

His impact-driven work extends into the charity sector through his collaboration with the Pickwell Foundation. He has also created a suite of digital assets for Surfers, Not Street Children, a South African charity, including the documentary Into the Light, which is now screening at film festivals internationally.

As an owner/operator, Mikey brings a comprehensive camera, lighting, audio and grip package that can be tailored to the requirements of each production. His kit includes the Ronin 4D system and a specialised in-water camera rig.
