A really excited Mikey Corker winning an Emmy

Mikey Corker is an Emmy Award winning documentary director and cinematographer who is extremely passionate about crafting impactful human stories.

Mikey’s process is guided by an emotional intention towards subject, story and audience, and ranges from a raw verité style to a more stylised cinematic approach in response to the unique requirements of the project.

In Feb 2024 Mikey received a coveted Prime Time Emmy award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Non-Fiction Program in recognition for his work on the highly lauded HBO series 100ft Wave.

Mikey’s directorial debut feature doc, Savage Waters, premiered to critical acclaim at the opening night of the 2022 Doclands film festival, a prestigious event presented by the California Film institute.

It has won multiple awards across the globe.

Savage Waters was in the top 10 most successful documentaries in UK cinemas in 2023 and is currently available to stream on Apple TV and Amazon Prime.

More recently, Mikey has just completed directing a documentary feature called Making Waves for the highly acclaimed production company Box to Box films [Drive to Survive, Break Point, Full Swing – Netflix] The film features 11 times world champion Kelly Slater.

In the summer 2024 Mikey was hired by director Rebecca Chaiklin [Tiger King] and producer Chris Smith [Sr, Wham, Tiger King, Fyre, Jim and Andy] as an additional cinematographer on a high-profile Netflix documentary about the marriage between the Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise and the controversial self-styled shaman Durek Verrett.

In October 2024 Mikey completed principal photography as DOP on a documentary called Unbound, a hard-hitting story commissioned by global shoe brand Vivo Barefoot focussing on women’s empowerment and foot health. The film features Aicha McKenzie, a former British gymnast, model and dancer. Unbound is directed by award winning filmmaker Becky Hutner.

Being a father to 2 young children, Mikey is also passionate about using his voice to create stories that have a positive social and environmental impact for future generations.

He is currently working on a self-funded documentary about a non-profit organisation in South Africa called Surfers Not Street Children. The film is in early stages of production, with a release planned for 2025.
